Every sound these days is somehow processed to be louder, and our sounds cannot be different if we want them to be useful. When you record your sounds through a good mic and then listen to them in your new session, you would think, that they are perfect the way they are right now. You might be right - everything depends on the context and situation! But when you cut your samples into smaller chunks, do a little bit of fade-in & fade-out, and place them into your sound pipeline, you start to understand, that these sounds either just "click" and disappear, or are way too loud when turned up. So let's take a deeper look at how to treat those very sharp transients and transform them into usable samples.
